We are a fun family orientated group and the Clan has a tent at many of the Highland Games where we meet and socialize. We venture to suggest that each of the Games becomes a large growing family reunion as you will meet other “cousins” and renew old friendships. The main Games, you are encouraged to attend in our area (a great excuse for a vacation) are Loch Norman, NC in April, and Grandfather Mountain NC (the biggest) in July. Then there is Stone Mountain Ga., Charleston, SC, as well as Richmond Va. in October. There are many Highland Games all around America for you to attend and enjoy however we may not have a Clan tent there. All of us have Scottish roots and our object, as a Clan is first and foremost to enjoy ourselves as a family under the umbrella of the Appalachian Branch of Clan MacMillan. The translation of the Gaelic word “clan”, or more correctly “clann” means “family” – we are your Scottish family. Those of you that are not members we extend to you a “welcome home” and do hope that you will join the Branch and enjoy all that we can offer as MacMillans. |

The Appalachian Branch is recognized as the largest and strongest Branch of Clan MacMillan in the world with around 300+/- dues paid members. In 1996, 2000, 2005, and then again in 2007 we were awarded the premier trophy for being the Clan demonstrating the “Most Outstanding Scottish Spirit” at the Stone Mountain Games (GA). |
